On February 16, 2023, within the framework of the "Fight illegal forest actions" project, a lecture was held for the students from the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje, in cooperation with DREN – Forestry Students' Association at the Faculty of Forestry in Skopje.
During the lecture, institutional setting in the forestry sector and the competences of various actors in the fight against illegal activities in the forest were presented to the students. In addition, they got familiar with the content of various regulations (EUTR, Lacey Act) that are in force in other countries and have an impact on the trade in wood products and the requirements related to the legality of the same products.
Also, the students got acquainted with the main reasons for the appearance of illegal activities in the forests in North Macedonia and the impact they have on the quality of forest resources and forest ecosystem services.
